5 Tips Every Home Baker Should Know

Unlock your baking potential with these essential tips! From mastering food safety to stabilizing your cakes, these insights will elevate your treats from good to great.  Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned pro, these tips will help you create professional, flawless bakes every time. Get ready to impress friends and family with your newfound baking skills!

1. Wear Gloves!- You should always be following proper Food Safety procedures, just like you would expect going to a restaurant, cafe, or bakery. Being in the comfort of your home should not mean you ignore rules when baking for someone outside your household.

2. If your cakes begin to lean, fall, or bulge during stacking, your buttercream is probably too warm. Let the cake chill for 20 minutes then come back to it. It’s best to use Real Butter instead of margarine in your recipe as this will provide stability! If you need recipes take a look at my Buttercream Recipes

3. Most people do not eat fondant decorations and it’s better to use your bare hands when working with it, as to not cause creases or marks in the final product. Just make sure your hands and work area is extremely clean. Fondant will pick up any little hair, dust, or dirt. So be mindful when working with it.

4. The energy you put in is what will show out. So put LOVE into it. Meaning take your time, pay attention to the details, have fun during the process, smile and be PROUD of the work you just created!

5. Always add a Thank you Card! Or verbally thank your customers for ordering from you. As you build up clientele, this small gesture will make them feel appreciated for spending their money with you and likely to come back.

Remember to put love into your cakes—your passion makes all the difference! Finally, don’t forget to add a thoughtful thank-you card; it’s a simple touch that shows you care. With these tips, you’ll bake with confidence and heart!
