How to Make High Heel Shoe Cake Topper

Learn to craft a stunning gumpaste high heel shoe with our easy-to-follow tutorial. This step-by-step guide walks you through every stage, from shaping the sole and heel to adding intricate details like delicate straps and embellishments. Using simple tools and techniques, you'll create a beautiful, realistic shoe that's perfect for cake decorations or edible crafts. Ideal for both beginners and experienced decorators, this tutorial ensures you'll achieve professional results with a touch of creativity.

This is everything you will need. I am using a Shoe Former Kit, get it on my Amazon Storefront. Other items not included in the kit that you will need are gumpaste, a fondant roller, exacto knife, & powdered sugar in a shaker. (You can also use Fondant! For best results, use Gumpaste)

Start by making the Heel ahead of time. Place gumpaste in the mold and let dry at least 8 hours over night outside the mold. To immediately remove gumpaste from the mold, place in the freezer for 20 minutes, this will firm up the gumpaste without messing up the design. But it is best to let it dry a full 24-48 hours, either inside the mold, then remove it.

Use Shaker to dust surface with powdered sugar. Roll out Gumpaste. Use the sole cutter to cut the shape of the shoe and attach to the heel with edible glue (a small piece of gumpaste mixed with water), and place onto the shoe former.

Use the included template to cut the heel strap with an exacto knife. Apply edible glue to the bottom edge and attach to shoe.

Do the Same for the Toe Strap. If the toe strap is not holding up on its own, this kit does come with an attachment (not pictured) to help hold up the strap until it dries. You can also use a piece of rolled up napkin, cotton or saran wrap. The thickness of the gumpaste allowed me to not have to use anything. Use a piece of parchment to curve the tip of the shoe up. This will help attach it to the toe strap better since it is curved and make the shoe look more realistic.

Use the sole cutter again for the inside padding. Use it to get the general shape, then cut it down to be smaller than the sole of the shoe and apply it to the shoe. (keep cutting and adjusting til you have the perfect size)

Let dry overnight before removing from the Former Mold. Add final details like gold luster dust, ribbons, embellishments, painted designs, patterns & more! Be creative!

And there you have it! You just made a SIMPLE High Heel Shoe Cake Topper! This is just ONE design. This Shoe Kit it comes with multiple templates to create different shoe designs. You can find all items on my Amazon Storefront!
